I have been super impressed with the quality of ALL of the translations for WHY. Thank you all for the great work.

If any of the lyricists are interested, I have a few songs that need translating for possible inclusion of a Finnish album for a female vocalist.

Note:

1) Remember that I am asking multiple people to do translations for the same songs. So unfortunately, if you do the translations, your work may not be chosen to be used. Hopefully it will still be a good experience and you can use the lyrics for another song later.

2) I dont need direct translations. I just need cool lyrics in Finnish that fit a previously made melody and music track.

Remember...I want lyrics that are cool and memorable, not necessarily translations of the same idea as the original. Don't try to "force" a translation if it doesnt work.

Well... at least I'm trying, but cannot make any promises. I really hope you'll get some lyrics by Sunday, but my guess is the lyricists are now working with the "My Number 1".

I know...crazy deadlines.

Its not mandatory, but this is for a well-known Finnish artist (female) who is looking for 2 to 3 songs to finish up her album.

There's no promises that these songs will be used, but its a great opportunity to try to get your foot in the door of the Finnish music world since her A/R rep knows me and will seriously listen to what I send him.

So, no pressure. haha!

I wont put the SURROUNDED lyrics up because they are religious and thats not the direction the Finnish lyrics should be. So you have free hands to just follow the melody and mood of the music to do something fun and interesting.

I am amazed. Truly and utterly AMAZED at the talent here! I got new lyrics for all of the songs posted and am very very optimistic about how well the lyrics work.

I also have music only tracks for most of the songs, so if the lyric writers would like to have those tracks to record their own versions of the songs to use themselves, just let me know.

Although the deadline is today and the songs will be submitted today, it can take 1-2 weeks before they get back to me (I usually wait at least 1.5 weeks before contacting them to get feedback).

So now we just wait to see... but the coolest thing is that the quality of the lyrics were so great, if the songs arent picked up by this artist that we are submitting to... I still think there will be many many other artists who might like to do these. (and with the new IDOLS gearing up soon, there will definately be a need for new songs).

Thank you all again for your willingness to be cowriters and work on these projects. If this has been a good experience, I would love to continue to do this in the future to get more of my English songs also ready for Finnish artists.

ps. I have decided that instead of me trying to decide which are the "best" versions of the songs, I will be submitting all versions to the record company. Sometimes its not a question of what lyric is better, but which lyric speaks to the artist at the time.

I'll let you know the artist name once a decision has been made whether the songs will be used or not.

I just got off the phone with the A/R guy from Universal. Unfortunately none of the songs were chosen for the album, but they will still be considered for other projects.

The artist we were trying for was ANNA ERIKSSON. After hearing the songs, they decided that they needed a very specific type of song. only one more song was needed and it needed to be uptempo in a major key. And none of the songs sent were the perfect fit.

So it wasnt a question about the lyrics or music being good enough... it just needed to be the right fit.

The other two projects the songs will be considered for are TikTak and Club for Five. I am not sure any of the songs are exact fits for either project, but I'll update this thread if I get any more info.

At this point, the writers are welcome to post their lyrics for the songs online or to write different music for the lyrics or whatever. (Probably best place would be to create new threads in the KÄÄNÖS section that are song-specific.)

I will not post the lyrics online myself, just in case someone wants to reuse the lyrics for a Eurovision entry in the future with different music (ESC rules wont let the songs be posted online before a certain date.)
