I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Jennie as well to walk it in Tampere! Please, oh please let her win so I can be proud of going to Kiev with the Finnish delegation.

(Also, it would make my work a whole lot easier if the singer and composer speak Swedish. )

I like lots of things in ESC.

Best I´ve found in ESC is Zeljko Joksimovic,not personally but his music.
I´ve been playing his music since I heard "lane moje" for the first time.
I´m never gonna stop that.
Mia Martini´s Rapsodia is best love-smiley-016: I simply love it.It almoust makes me cry(after all these years).


This year ,I like in finnish semifinals:
Kimmo,Elena,Teddy,Anna,A&N,Jennie and Christian.
One of them ,maybe but semi 4 has Wäinötär ,Firevision and Geir
who knows one of them?

Hello Kris, here we are in your loyal audience again! I have always, already as a teenager, (we are going back a bit here... )admired the way Swedish Radio's shows are made. Perfect timing and rhythm between music and speech, no awkward pauses like in the Finnish equivalent. Are you alone in the studio and play the records yourself, or is there a technician there with you to start them on your cue? Keep up the good work!

And if Elena can't win, I shall be happy with Wäinötär. And am mentally preparing myself for the horror of Kimmo Kouri actually getting the ticket to Kiev... at least it is different and won't go unnoticed

Yes, I am a kind of fortune teller. I know that Finland won't ever win with song, which is totally in English. I know that the best chances are either Swedish or Finnish, maybe in Sámi language. For example, I think Fantasiaa in Swedish would have scored top 5.

Yes, eepu...I am Steven Stewart. My ID Sampo is my Finnish name...well, my dog's name that I borrowed. I posted who I was when I first joined Viisukuppila, but didnt continue to sign my name and havent posted much because I didnt want anyone to feel like they couldnt talk freely with an author peeking in. (Many others peek in...they just dont publically admit being as big of a Eurovision Fan Geek like me. )

I guess according to many here...Mika and I will just have to try harder next year to write better songs (if he still wants to write with me if both songs end up not going to finals! ) I'm still very curious what hardcore ESC fans from Finland are looking for in a song. But maybe thats insane and songwriters should just write what they feel are great songs.

I'm just giving you a hard time because you seem like the kind of guy who loves a good discussion and you have had your undies in a knot with your tirade against Gary so I felt like harrassing you. No harm intended. Unfortunately humour doesnt always translate across languages or e-mail/online posts...so just laugh with me.

Like I said...I am just as excited as a Eurovision FAN as I am as a cowriter and I come here to enjoy, laugh, and get mad about all the comments about the songs like everyone else. I just try not to post my most opinionated comments online because I have to be in the green room with those same artists and I dont want to get a fist in my mouth from Kimmo for making fun of his english. :?

You are right about humour in net discussions.
My comments have usually negative colors(personality),maybe I´m not so easy to find out.Sorry for Gary maybe I was too tirade after him.
Last year I liked Takes 2 to tango, it was Mika´s song.
But I didn´t like that new "sovitus"(I don´t know what it is in english)so much.
I´ve heard Why only once,but I have to see it too ,to make a final opinion.
I was so dissapoited for D´voices :twisted:I expected so much from girls.

I would like to do song partly English, partly Finnish... Sampo, would you like to do co-work with me? In my opinion, chorus would be in English and other text in Finnish...

JukkaV...I agree that a great choice for a finnish entry would be to try to combine memorable english lyrics with either cool Finnish chanting or choir or to make the chorus hook in Finnish something that would be easy for any foreigner to sing.

For example, I dont like the song, but O-Zones hit from the summer "Dagostea din Tei" was a huge international hit in a foreign language that you couldnt get out of your head. (Maija iiiii maija oooo maija aaaah maija ha ha)

So I think Finnish/English would work well with great music and creative vocal arrangments. But like many people said here earlier, the songs need to hit the ears immediately, but you cant already be sick of it after 3 listens.

Unfortunately you first have to get the song approved by YLE. For the past two years before this, none of my submitted songs even made it to the semis. So the songs you write have to be something you like whether it makes Eurovision or not, cause its a lot of your own money that you probably wont get back in order to get great sounding demos that can be competitive with other entries.

Other note...for those who didnt like the new T2TT sovitus, I had coordinated some alternate remixes for Jari that are fun new ways of hearing the song. They were supposed to go on a maxi CD, but that didnt happen. Some are on his own website (including 1 version I didnt oversee). Most of them are found here:

"marilyn's ghost" is sung by UK artist Mark Kerins in the demo.

We wanted Gary Revel jr to sing it for Finland Eurovision when it was submitted. We actually have about 6 (SIX!!!) different demo arrangments for this...I dont think any of them work perfectly. 2 are me singing the demo (one blues rock/ the other pop rock) and 4 are Mark (dance version, uk pop version (with synth horns), hip-hop downtempo version, "Thriller" disco version...plus the one I posted which is what we submitted 2 years ago)

I thought the song didnt go forward because it was about Marilyn Monroe and YLE thought it was too American of a theme.

So when I heard the beautiful Mady/Laiho ACTRESS song, I figured YLE judges just didnt like my song.

PS. Samuli Laiho was an invited composer like Mika, so no preliminary jury involved. For sure "An actress" wouldn't have passed any pre-jury. I have as well tried couple of times an entry with spoken parts, but that's obviously "too artistic"...

It's usually recorded the same afternoon as it is broadcast. Just me, no sound engineers. Just me and the computer.

Sometimes it's live though, the other week was live, when Cyprus picked their song, for example.
